Serena Trainor is an 18 year old, born, raised, and proud Coloradoan. In May of 2016, she graduated from Denver School of the Arts after seven years in their Theatre Department. In the program, she studied the acting techniques of Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, and Grotowski under department directors Shawn Hann and Brandon Becker. She has also received training in improv, Shakespeare text analysis, movement, voice, dialects, costume and set design, stage makeup, Greek theatre, playwriting, and combat, among others. Taught by regional and nationally recognized theatre professionals including Candy Brown, Allison Watrous, Tim Grant, Brian Shea, Alan Osburn, and several more, she also developed a strong sense of professionalism and a powerful work drive.

In addition to her enrollment as a Theatre Major, Serena spent several years studying and working at Denver Center for the Performing Arts: Education, otherwise known as the Denver Center Theatre Academy. Starting when she was 8 years old, she attended their musical camps, and as she aged she enrolled in teen camps. These included scene workshops, acting on film, triple threat training, and full productions. At 12, she became a Classroom Assistant, and, over the next six years, spent her time each summer and through the school year working and teaching.

SERENA TRAINOR

ABOUT ME

Outside of theatre, Serena dabbles in several hobbies. She expresses her love for visual arts by working through a camera. Her artistic eye and need to document her life are constantly merging in her daily life. Since her digital photography class the summer before her freshman year, she brings her Canon (or a camera of some sorts) everywhere she goes, documenting everything from her friends to the surrounding landscape. But while she is a firm believer in "a picture is worth a thousand words", sometimes you just have to write it out, too. Serena likes to dip her toes in writing, primarily poetry. Because of the wide range in DSA's curriculum, she also has experience in playwriting. In what free time remains, she enjoys singing and playing her guitar (Lucy).

Because of the nature of creativity, Serena is attracted to the arts because of her interest in the way the human mind works. This fascination with people also draws her towards a career in psychology. She has recently committed to Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. In the fall, she will enter undecided, and is excited to start discovering her new journey. While she is not directly furthering her theatre education, she will be participating in Trinity's InterArts Program. This way, art will stay in her life.
